Shatoosh
The scarf is intended to be like the original Shahtoosh and it has the
same characteristics: lightness, softness and delicacy.
If the scarf is in contact with the beard or rough fabrics, it can be
damaged and the result is peeling. We recommend dry cleaning only.
The wool of the Tibetan Antelope, known with the name of shahtoosh,
is considered the most precious and expansive one in the world.
For this reason this wool is called wool of Gods.
This Antelope lives in Qinghai tableland in China at an altitude between
3700 and 5500 meters. This antelope has a very thin fur which
protects the animal from the severe temperatures, sometimes
reaching minus 40 C°. The shahtoosh is subjected to an increasing
demand on the market even though this wool has been banished
internationally for 23 years and this is threatening the survival of this
species at risk. In fact, the Tibetan Antelope, unlike other domestic or
wild animals, instead of being shaved, is killed to take the fur.
To make a 1 x 2 meter shawl, 3 Antelopes are killed. Our scarves are
true reproduction of the Indian and Nepalese ones and they are legal.
They have the same characteristics of weight, softness and quality,
but they are not illegal because they are made with extra thin yarns of
cashmere and our production process is patented.
Our shawls pass through a ring, a cloud of soft cashmere available in
different colours. On the bottom of our boxes there is a special paper.
You may spray your own perfume on this paper, put it back in the box,
then put your shawl back in the box for storage.
Your shawl will be personalised with your fragrance.
